Alongside the artists we have asked to take part in our project, are educational opportunities for the cameras. Rod Slemmons' intention for his collection was that all of the objects and materials be accessible, both for artists as well for educational purposes. One of our organizers of the project, Koo, has been teaching entry level photography classes for high school students at the Evanston Art Center. She has used some of the box cameras from the collection with her students, as an approachable entry point for those who have never shot with film or are unfamiliar with the more technical aspects of shooting cameras.
